Annie was the wife of Andrew Poleson and with Andrew being so well known as an excellent fiddler and singer, she was very shy about singing in public herself. But her daughter Barbara wrote that she loved music and was very fond of Scottish music and, “Believe it or not, Country and Western.” She added, “One of my lovely memories of mum is she was always singing.”
As a mother she knew many rhymes and dandling songs and she also provided words for two of Andrew’s dancing ‘springs’ – Da Boanie Lass o’ Bekka Hill and Fit da Gutters.
