Here <strong>Mary<\/strong> recites it adding a Whalsay colour to the Scots words. It is followed by <strong>Willie Williamson<\/strong> singing a tiny part\u00a0of it and then\u00a0<strong>Andrew Poleson<\/strong> playing his version\u00a0\u2013a seemingly different\u00a0one, until one realises that the\u00a0second half of his\u00a0tune\u00a0resembles Willie&#8217;s fragment. In\u00a0fact Andrew&#8217;s tune is\u00a0\u00a0very similar to\u00a0early\u00a0printed tunes\u00a0\u00a0and to a number of \u00a0sung versions collected by Greig \u00a0(<em>The Greig-Duncan Folk Song Collection,\u00a0<\/em> vol 5, 263-265).\u00a0Roud index no. 939.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><em>My mither made me grey breeks\u00a0and\u00a0oh, but they were duddy-o,<\/em><br \/>\n<em>She his dochter<\/em><br \/>\n<em> An aa roond the country side an up and doon he socht her.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><em>But when he cam to oor fireside an found us baith
