Barnes and recorded on the <em>ColRena<\/em> record no. 2037, also in 1912. Either could explain how the song\u00a0 came to be known in Whalsay, though it was also in Harry Lauder&#8217;s repertoire and as well as being\u00a0one of the\u00a0\u00a0<em>Favourite Songs in Country Districts \u2013<\/em> penny songsheets<em>\u00a0<\/em>which were sold by Sanderson of Edinburgh as late as\u00a0the 1940s.
