Born in Whalsay in 1913, Willie was 58 when he was recorded at his home at Creadieknowe. His working life began as a fishermen followed by some years in the Navy. He then returned to fishing and eventually worked as a joiner and builder. A good musician, he used to play the fiddle until ill-health caused him to give it up. Here he is pictured with his wife Betty outside their home.
