it&#8217;s just an auld spring.&#8221; \u00a0The label <em>spring<\/em> reminds one of the Norwegian term\u00a0<em>springar<\/em>, denoting a couple dance, though the modern Norwegian <em>springar<\/em> is invariably in 3\/4 (waltz)\u00a0time).<\/p>\n<p>A Scots version (in James \u00a0Johnson&#8217;s <em>The Scots Musical Museum<\/em>\u00a01787, vol. 1, p. 53) runs\u00a0\u00a0as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Oh saw ye Jenny Nettle;
